Tryon Policy: Terms of Use and Merchant Responsibility
Purpose of Tryon
Tryon is designed to provide a "Try Before You Buy" solution for Shopify merchants. This service enables merchants to offer their products to customers for a trial period, during which no immediate payment is made. Customers are charged only if they decide to keep the product after the trial period. To ensure the merchant’s funds are secure, Tryon places an authorization hold on the customer’s payment card throughout the trial period.

Authorization Mechanism
To protect merchants, Tryon implements an authorization hold mechanism:
-
Each authorization transaction is set to expire after a specified period (typically 7 days but subject to variation).
-
Tryon automatically detects the expiration date of each authorization hold and renews it by opening a new authorization transaction before the old one expires. This ensures continuous security for the merchant throughout the trial period.
Proper Use of Tryon
Tryon is explicitly designed for the "Try Before You Buy" sales model. Merchants are required to adhere to the intended use of the service, which includes:
-
Clearly indicating to customers that the product is being sold under a "Try Before You Buy" plan.
-
Using Tryon’s features to facilitate legitimate trial-based sales.

Prohibited Activities
Any misuse of Tryon’s functionality, such as:
-
Concealing the trial-based nature of the order.
-
Misrepresenting the "Try Before You Buy" plan to make orders appear free while intending to charge customers later.
Such activities are strictly against Tryon’s policy and can lead to financial disputes, legal consequences, and reputational damage. Merchants engaging in these activities assume full responsibility for their actions.

Merchant Responsibility
Merchants bear sole responsibility for:
-
Communicating the terms of the "Try Before You Buy" plan transparently to customers.
-
Ensuring that Tryon’s features are used in good faith and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
-
